One of the many players that Suns fans are keeping an eye on in Vegas is last year’s fourth overall pick, Dragan Bender. While it has been teased that the Suns would have moments in Vegas where Bender would be running the point from the forward spot, Dragan has shown other areas of improvement in this early part of Summer League.

Compared to last season, Bender has been more assertive, specifically on the offensive end.  Bender is looking for his own shot in the offense and proving that he is not afraid to shoot the ball. He has displayed smooth mechanics on his jump-shot, with the ability to get his shot off anytime due to his length and height.

With that said, Bender has been inconsistent, often coming up short with his shot, especially from three. Similar to last season, Bender struggles to play through contact, disrupted by physicality on both ends of the floor.

Dragan’s point-forward skills have left much to be desired. Bender can be easily overwhelmed by the defense, causing him to have the ball stolen or make ill advised passes when he attempts to put the ball on the floor. Bender will need to make better decisions if he is to continue to have point-forward responsibilities in the future.
