He fits in perfectly with the core
The Suns’ “Timeline” core includes a face the basket scoring savant, a versatile wing with a nose for defense and passing, two bigs that can space the floor and wreak havoc in transition, and an older point guard that is excellent off the dribble. What the team lacks is a big man that can destroy opponents in the paint when provided with space.
Both Bender and Chriss would be excellent complements to Cousins on the offensive end. Bender would stay out of the lane and facilitate while guarding the more mobile big men. Chriss will do his damage in transition, protect the rim and space the floor in the half court. The Suns need interior scoring and rebounding and DeMarcus Cousins would provide exactly that.
