Dream signing: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (24)

Realistic signing: Ben McLemore (24)

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (KCP) is already being considered as one of the better two-way players in the league. Currently a restricted free agent with the Detroit Pistons, KCP would be called upon to play defense on some of the better guards and small forwards in the league. Adding KCP to the Suns would automatically boost the defensive tenacity of the team. The issue with this signing is he plays the same position as current Suns star Devin Booker, although there is a possibility of either one (KCP or Booker) moving to the SF position. That could cause issues with new Sun Josh Jackson and current starting SF T.J. Warren. Also, KCP is more than likely getting a max contact which isn’t something the Suns should do.

Ben McLemore is one of those players who hasn’t quite lived up to his potential. Playing his whole career with the Sacramento Kings, McLemore became expendable with the acquisition of Buddy Hield from the Pelicans at the trade deadline. A change of scenery could do wonders. He would be an excellent spark off of the bench offensively with a career shooting average of 42% (35% from three), which match current backup SG Leandro Barbosa 2016-2017 output. Age-wise he fits the age range of the core and possibly could be had for a decent contract.
