Another strange pick. Alec Peters was a decorated shooter at Valparaiso, averaging a double-double his senior year while shooting over 40% from three. On paper, that all doesn’t sound bad. It actually really does give Alec a very Ryan Anderson-esque comparison as a stretch four.

Another thing he definitely does well is rebound, averaging 10.1 his senior season – which also happens to be a glaring weakness for the Suns. However, as with Ryan Anderson, Alec will probably have troubles defensively as he is built more like a small forward. Bigger and stronger forwards will beat him up in the paint.

His spot in rotation also isn’t as clear with our current depth chart:

Small Forward: Josh Jackson, TJ Warren, Derrick Jones Jr, Alec Peters(?)

Power Forward: Marquesse Chriss, Jared Dudley, Dragan Bender, Alec Peters(?)

All of those names, with exception to Jared Dudley most likely taking a smaller role, will all average between 15-20 minutes per game. That leaves little to no minutes for Alec, so, we will assume he will be going to the G-League for a majority of next season. Although that isn’t as bad as it sounds.

Derrick Jones Jr. spent a majority of last season in the G League and was a human highlight reel each game he played. Jones earned his role on the Suns roster through effort, which is probably the same path Alec will have to follow.
