The Suns didn’t trade back

With so many trade rumors swirling around the league and the Suns in particular, many fans were both excited about the possibility of taking part in a game-changing trade, as well as nervous of giving up too much (including draft picks) for only one or two players.

Fortunately, when it came time for the Suns to pick and Josh Jackson was on the board, there had been little to no immediate rumors that the Suns might trade back missing out on the opportunity to take the star Kansas product. Had the Suns moved back they likely would have only wanted to trade with the Sacramento Kings and take the fifth and ten picks, believing then that they would still have a chance to take Jackson fifth overall.

The Kings probably didn’t believe (as most fans did not) that the Suns had any inclination to take anyone other than Josh Jackson at number four, and didn’t budge, leaving them with their preferred player, De’Aaron Fox. Thus, the Suns stayed put and fans were left with the opportunity to celebrate who many believe is the best all-around played in the draft, in Josh Jackson.
