Phoenix has assets. They have players that the Knicks would want to improve their roster right away, not to mention draft picks to help build the future around.

For McDonough, it’s all about waiting for the right moment of vulnerability and striking the deal.

Prior to the draft lottery, when the idea of potentially trading for Porzingis came to the forefront of reality, I proposed a series of trades (dependent upon where the Suns might have been drafting) that right then and there I would have taken. Suns fans were amendment: The Suns MUST  trade for Kristaps Porzingis.

I would stand by those trades today and would be extremely happy with it even now, if it meant pairing he and Booker together.

This morning, John Gambodoro offered another trade that he would accept, that would be even better  than any of the the ones that I originally proposed, although I feel far less likely.

The Suns would essentially be trading their fourth overall pick for Porzingis (meaning New York would have both four and eight), which would be more than acceptable for Suns fans, while swapping bad contracts in Tyson Chandler for Joakim Noah. The unknown Miami pick is the sweetener.

Not bad, although presumably, not plausible.

Ryan McDoough needs to become that General Managers that get’s these trades done. He sees a star available, and he goes and gets him. There will not be another younger star, one with such a fantastic contract situation for the time being to potentially become available again. If New York is willing to trade Porzingis, McDonough needs to keep Phil Jackson on the phone until a deal can be finalized.
