2009, 14th Pick

Who The Suns Took:

Earl Clark, Forward, Louisville

Career Stats:

261 GP, 4.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 0.5 APG, 40.3% FG

Who The Suns Should Have Taken:

Jrue Holiday, Point Guard, UCLA – Originally taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 17th overall pick

Career Stats:

504 GP, 14.3 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 6.2 APG, 44.1% FG

Earl Clark was drafted in hopes that he would develop into a matchup nightmare, ala Kevin Durant and LeBron James. He wasn’t projected to be anywhere that level, but a 6’10” small forward with plenty of skill was certainly an enticing option for Phoenix.

He didn’t pan out, plain and simple.

Jrue Holiday is a talented point guard, and provides a little bit of everything at the position. He also has good size, and his versatility would have been valuable to the Suns behind Steve Nash.

Part 5 will feature Suns picks from 2011 to 2016. All stats were pulled from www.basketball-reference.com.
