1992, 22nd Pick

Who The Suns Took:

Oliver Miller, Center/Power Forward, Arkansas

Career Stats:

493 GP, 7.4 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 53.4% FG

Who The Suns Should Have Taken:

Latrell Sprewell, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Alabama – Originally taken by the Golden State Warriors with the 24th overall pick

Career Stats:

913 GP, 18.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 4.0 APG, 42.5% FG

Miller had a very average career. He was a decent backup center, but he wasn’t a huge difference maker for Phoenix. He was one of the best big men passers ever to play the game, and believe it or not, he was a Harlem Globetrotter – cue Sweet Georgia Brown.

Sprewell, on the other hand, was an 18 PPG scorer for his career. He was a great offensive talent, and he would have been an excellent addition to the Suns lineups as they headed into the Barkley era. Can you imagine not only how much more potent offensively that ’93 Finals team would have been, but Spree would also have been the perfect fill in when Danny Manning went down in ’95, not to mention that he would have taken a huge scoring load off of Barkley’s shoulders – EXACTLY what he begged the team to do before demanding his 1996 trade to Houston.
