How the Phoenix Suns can acquire Kristaps Porzingis
The Phoenix Suns need to acquire a star to add next to Devin Booker. Stars win titles and giving Booker the help he needs would be great for the organization. The Suns have not made the playoffs since 2010 and that should change soon.
Meanwhile, across the country, there is tension in the Big Apple between Kristaps Porzingis and the New York Knicks front office. Porzingis is angry about New York’s direction. Despite acquiring Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee and a past-his-prime Joakim Noah in the offseason, the Knicks failed to make the playoffs for the 4th consecutive season. Back in mid-April ESPN’s Ian Begley tweeted that things were really not going well as Porzingis skipped exit meetings with the Knicks.
Now let’s not go on a rant about how Phil Jackson and James Dolan have managed the Knicks the past few years worse than John Daly with money. Instead let’s use their mismanagement as a chance to get the Phoenix Suns a franchise big, a player that Earl Watson could use at the 4 and the 5, a player that could save Ryan Mcdonough his job, and a star that pairs Devin Booker with another star.
That player is Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis’s game rivals that of a fine wine that it will age very well. Porzingis is more reliant on skill and instinct rather than athleticism. In other words, he will age more like Dirk Nowitzki than Dwight Howard.
In order to acquire “The Zinger” the Suns will have to give up a good amount. But thanks to the rebuilding process, we have a fair amount of assets we could trade, here are a few trades we could look at.
