1973, 8th Pick

Who The Suns Took:

Mike Bantom, Forward, St. Joseph’s

Career Stats:

706 GP, 12.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.3 APG, 46.8% FG

Who The Suns Should Have Taken:

George McGinnis, Forward, Indiana – Originally taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 22nd overall pick

Career Stats:

528 GP, 17.2 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, 44.8% FG

McGinnis had a very productive and solid career in the NBA, and was one of the better players at his position at the time. Bantom wasn’t by any means a bust. He had a solid career as well, but McGinnis had better numbers and a bigger impact on the floor.
