Devin Booker’s Career-High was 39 – WAS. #Club70
By Adam Maynes
When Devin Booker woke up this morning, do you think he thought: I’m going to score 70 points.
Coming into tonight’s game Devin Booker’s career-high was 39 points, a feat he reached and tied twice this season. He had that record broken before the end of the 3rd quarter.
Setting – shattering – Tom Chamber’s 27-year old scoring record with 70 points, Booker became the youngest player to ever score 70, becoming the 6th player to reach that scoring plateau.
Severaly outmatched early and down 23 at half, Booker led all scorers with 19, the only Phoenix scorer of note. Amazingly when looking at the final product, he and his teammates shot 5-22 in the first quarter for 22.7% with Book the only starter scoring a single point in that period, 10, on 3-7 from the field. The Suns turned up the heat shooting 61.1% in the second, but still allowed Boston to outscored them by 10, bringing them to their halftime deficit.
By the third quarter Booker decided to dominate. 23 points and 10-10 from the free throw line, 15 coming in the period’s final 5:41.
Booker’s 50th point came on a free throw in the fourth draining the first of three three throws with 6:40 remaining in the game tying Cliff Robinson and Amar’e Stoudemire.
Booker’s next points came on two free throws with 3:46 remaining, passing Tony Delk’s 53. He tied Tom Chambers’ 56 with 2:20, off of a Jared Dudley pass, his 10th assist of the game. 32 seconds later Booker, following a three to give him 59, scored on an acrobatic layup to break the franchise record.
By this point the Suns began to foul the Celtics intentionally to allow Booker to continue to score. Booker accepted the challenge and when the final buzzer sounded, and obviously exhausted Devin Booker had become the 6th player in History to score 70 points.

The rest of the Suns scored 50 points led by Alex Len and Leandro Barbosa’s 11 points each, the only other double-digit scorers for the Suns. Dudley led the Suns with 10 assists, the first time he reached double-digits since recording 10 against Portland on December 22, 2012, and Alan Williams fell one point short of a double-double grabbing a game-high 14 caroms.
Isaiah Thomas scored 34 points leading the Celtics, and dished out a team-high 7 assists. Jae Crowder and Al Horford grabbed 10 boards, each scoring 13 and 15 points respectively. Gerald Green came off the bench in the first half on fire draining four three’s and scored 15 points in the second quarter. He didn’t score again.
The Suns and Celtics combined for 63-84 from the charity stripe.
