Alan “Big Sauce” Williams
3.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.6 blocks, 7.1 minutes per game
Williams is the honorary hype man off the bench and plays this role extremely well. Unfortunately, being the most enthusiastic bench player ever does not always lead to minutes. Williams plays backup to Tyson Chandler and Len so unless there is an injury, foul trouble, or a blow out game, he does not receive much playing time.
But when the “Big Sauce” gets a chance to play he does not disappoint. Williams averages 9.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks when he plays over 10 minutes. He was given a chance to prove himself in Phoenix’s last game against the Chicago Bulls with Len suspended and Chandler going down early with an ankle injury. In 24 minutes Big Sauce posted 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
For the 13th man down the totem pole, Williams makes the most out of every opportunity presented to him.
