Amar’e Stoudemire, the recently retired Suns’ legend, takes the 5th and 6th spots on the Suns’ single game scoring list.

One thing that stands out about Amar’e Stoudemire’s performances is the absolute efficiency and dominance on the offensive end.

STAT went 17 of 21 from the field, but that includes going 0 for 2 from three. He also went 15 of 15 from the free throw line. When he was playing his game, he was absolutely unstoppable.

Throw in 11 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks, and you have one of the most dominant performances in Suns’ history. Since this performance was recent, we can actually witness some of this dominance:

That is beautiful.

While that 49 point effort was great, it couldn’t match what the younger Amar’e did: after having just recently turned 22, Stoudemire scored 50 points.

Just the fifth Sun to break 50 points in a game, Amar’e was the only one to have a double-double, recording 11 rebounds as well. This wasn’t as efficient of an effort, with Amar’e going 20-27 from the field and 10-17 from the free throw line, but Amar’e was simply a relentless beast on this night.

Amar’e Stoudemire and the Suns won 117-98 to improve to 26-4, an absolutely amazing start. This might have been the high point for the Phoenix Suns and the Seven Seconds or Less Era.

At just 22 years old, the Phoenix Suns young forward showed the ability to dominate the game for 48 minutes. Combined with the MVP Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, and the rest of the crew, things were bright.

That team would go 62-20, eventually losing to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

Stoudemire ended with a ridiculous 15 games of 40 points or more for the Phoenix Suns. He was one of the greatest scorers in team history, no question.
