Heading into Media Day, the Phoenix Suns were a team with a ton of question marks for the 2015-16 season. They had a pissed off power forward who had publicly demanded a trade, a pair of backcourt guards who showed approximately zero chemistry in the few games they played together last year and a group of young players in need of development.

Though Media Day is usually a team’s best opportunity to put up a united front and dish out all the positivity in the world, the Suns had reason to be optimistic. Markieff Morris came out and said all the right things, the team couldn’t stop talking about all the chemistry that had been built over the summer and the general consensus seemed to be that this should be a playoff team.

In September, every team can come out and say they believe they’re a playoff team, but that obviously doesn’t make it true. However, for a team whose entire roster (except for Keef) showed up early to get a jumpstart on training camp, the Suns had a little bit more concrete information to share on Media Day.

The front office set about addressing areas of need over the summer, from veteran experience to three-point shooting, but the biggest help could be roster chemistry after all of that. In the brutal Western Conference, nothing is guaranteed, but here’s a look at why the Suns and their developing cohesion could help them prove the critics wrong and reach the postseason for the first time since 2010.
