2. Will The New Phoenix Backcourt Thrive?

The Phoenix Suns’ playoff hopes obviously depend on how this uncomfortable situation with Markieff Morris shakes out, but the second most important factor will be how the Eric Bledsoe-Brandon Knight backcourt functions. Will it be the second coming of the Slash Brothers, Bledsoe and Dragic? Or will it be just as bad as that small sample size was at the end of last season?

Since Knight was only healthy for 11 games after joining the Suns, we still don’t really have an idea how these two fit in the backcourt. Knight is a better perimeter shooter and Bledsoe is the superior playmaker, so the ball will probably be in Bledsoe’s hands more often. Outside of that, it’s anyone’s guess how these two will develop chemistry and how long it will take.

Luckily, a summer of workouts and training camp will go a long way in helping these two get acclimated to each other. There’s no way of knowing how they’ll mesh once the games begin a month from now, but Media Day should provide a fair indicator of how that relationship is coming along.
