3. Is Eric Bledsoe On The Verge Of A Breakout Year?
Say what you want about Eric Bledsoe’s soft-spoken nature, but there’s no question that with morale as low as it’s been in quite awhile following the departure of Goran Dragic, he spent this summer stepping up as a leader for this team and this fanbase.
At pre-draft workouts in Phoenix, Bledsoe was there. At Suns Summer League games, Bledsoe was there. At Phoenix summer camps for kids, Bledsoe was there. At voluntary workouts, Bledsoe was one of the first ones there, which wasn’t a surprise since he had been in the gym every day since the start of the summer anyway.
Bledsoe isn’t the most articulate guy, and he’s not always as vocal on the basketball court as he should be, especially since he’s this team’s best player. But at age 25, Bledsoe spent his summer saying and doing all the right things to try and make himself and his teammates better. Isn’t that exactly what you want from a leader?
As one of the better two-way points guards in the league, Bledsoe is here to stay. The question now is whether he’s ready for a breakout season after such a dedicated summer, and Media Day should provide some insight on the kind of work he’s been putting in.
