The Battle Of The Threes (Tucker, Warren)

On Saturday, it was small forward time, and as most Suns fans know, there will probably be a battle between T.J. Warren and P.J. Tucker for playing time throughout the year. However, as far as the 2K ratings are concerned, there’s actually a pretty decent gap between the two players at this point.

But with those two players, what really intrigues me is their ratings compared to other players, not just each other. For example, former Suns swingman Gerald Green is STILL at a 76, despite his struggles last year.

In the 2014-15 season, Green played a total of just 1,446 minutes, down more than 850 from the year before. He averaged just 12 points per game, which was his third lowest total in the last four years, while his field goal, three-point and free throw percentages dropped off by three, five and four percent respectively.

Another wing that caught my eye was Manu Ginobili, who received another pretty high rating in this year’s game, considering he doesn’t seem to have that much left in the tank.

To have Manu Ginobili be a 78 seems a little crazy with the lower ratings. Last year, Ginobili posted some of the worst shooting numbers in his career. His 72.1 free throw percentage was the lowest of his career; his 34.5 three-point percentage was his lowest since the 2008-09 season; his 42.6 field goal percentage was his second lowest since the 2003-04 season.

However, 2K still has the Suns’ longtime nemesis either even or ahead of players like Eric Gordon (78 overall), Danny Green (77), Paul Pierce (78), Jabari Parker (77) and last year’s NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala (77). And overall, I definitely expect there to be some movement on that front throughout the year — especially when it comes to the older players (Pierce, Ginobili), in addition to the younger ones (Parker, Warren).
