5. Participate In The Three-Point Contest

Rookies don’t typically participate in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest during NBA All-Star Weekend. The last rookie to take part in the three-point shootout was Stephen Curry back in 2009-10, and no rookie has ever won the competition since it began in the 1985-86 season.

But rookies regularly take part in the other contests of All-Star weekend, so why shouldn’t the best shooter of this year’s draft class take part in this year’s shootout?

A look at last year’s loaded slate of competitors (Curry, Klay Thompson, Kyle Korver, Wesley Matthews, J.J. Redick, Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Marco Belinelli) may have some convinced that a rookie like Booker would be out of his league. But if anything, last year’s loaded group should pave the way for a new batch of challengers to step up.

Since there’s no way to top last year’s group of elite three-point marksmen, a “fresh blood” approach seems like the only logical way to follow it up. To that end, Booker could really get his name out there by competing.

He doesn’t have to blow anyone away. He doesn’t even have to win it. But if Devin Booker can participate in the three-point contest, it means he’ll probably be having an impressive rookie year from three-point range. Putting himself alongside Curry as a fellow rookie to participate in the event isn’t bad company to be in either.
