4. According to reports, the Suns are not looking to trade Markieff Morris. What are the odds time heals all wounds here?
Chasen: Honestly, I’d say there’s a 40 percent chance Markieff Morris doesn’t get traded and everything ends up being fine. It’s really a battle of cliches here: Time heals all wounds vs. blood runs thicker than water. But considering Morris’ extension kicks in this year, the Suns really have all the time in the world. I could be wrong, but I really don’t think Markieff Morris will create a bunch of problems this year — contrary to popular belief — and if that’s the case, I think there’s a chance everything works out.
Sir Charles In Charge
Bourguet: This one’s tricky. I don’t think Keef will ever forget such an unforgivable transgression against Team FOE, but I do think he knows better than to hold out or do anything stupid when the Suns still have him on the books for four years and $32 million. He actually has to show up to make his money and four years is a long time. If Phoenix keeps him, perhaps just playing basketball and tuning out all the BS will become Keef’s prerogative.
Hann: Zero. Actually, no. Negative two. There is NO WAY Markieff is on the roster when training camp is in full swing, let alone the regular season. Can we all remember the Suns said they would refuse to trade Goran Dragic? That situation was far, far less extreme than what has transpired and what WILL transpire if Markieff is left on the Suns.
Harris: If Markieff Morris is still on the team by the start of the season, then I think that he will just naturally transition back into life in the NBA. However, while he may be playing well, it may not be for the Suns; it may be to improve his trade value. So if Morris seems like he’s playing well early on, it might not just be for the Suns.
Dodgson: The Keef saga won’t be solved by doing nothing about all that has happened. He has lost the support of the fans, he is angry with management and he’s a liability on the court in terms of his attitude. He has a future in the league, but it cannot be with the Suns. The damage is already done and it’s time for Ryan McDonough to cut his losses.
