5. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers won’t sniff the playoffs next season, but they will show their fans a glimpse of hope. Rookie D’Angelo Russell, a healthy Julius Randle, another year of Jordan Clarkson, and an aging Kobe Bryant will at least make this team interesting.

Last year, the Lakers had a -6.8 point differential. Expect that number to go up just a tad. Newcomers Brandon Bass, Lou Williams, Larry Nance Jr. and Roy Hibbert give Los Angeles some name recognition, which will lead to more competitive games.

If the Lakers can avoid season ending injuries, then look for them to be a pesky team in the West that will annoy some of the contenders. In fact, if these Lakers were in the East then they would be in the race for the eighth seed.

Projected Record: 29-53
