UPDATE: Marcus Morris deleted many of his tweets from yesterday. However, you can still read some of the quotes of what he said below.

Ah the internet.

The internet is a magical place where anonymous ‘heroes‘ can interact with others, in what is always a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere (sarcasm font).

And when it comes to acting with some ‘foolishness’ on the internet, NBA players are not immune to that at all. As of late, Marcus Morris has upped his twitter game, deciding to take every opportunity to throw shade at fans, reporters and members of the Phoenix Suns’ organization, which has actually made for some pretty fun-to-watch twitter interactions. He also made good use of the block button on Friday as well.

There’s a lot to recap, so with no further ado, I present to you Marcus Morris’ busy day on the internet:

Interaction with Archie Goodwin

Marcus Morris got a great start to his Twitter day(s) by hopping online at 11:49 p.m. yesterday (my time, that’s 9:49 in Phoenix). As the old saying goes, “nothing good happens after midnight,” but Marcus Morris found the loophole in the system, I suppose, making sure that before the buzzer of midnight, he was able to take a shot at the team that once traded for him so he could be closer to his brother.

Archie Goodwin, who has since delete his tweet, responded that he was going to continue to work, using an analogy along the lines of kicking down the door instead of knocking on it, to which Marcus Morris replied:

With that, Marcus Morris’ exciting Twitter day was off and running. And I don’t exaggerate when I say it was a lot of fun to sit back, grab some popcorn and watch the sparks fly.

Bashing the fans

The next morning, Marcus Morris requested a fresh start, but just like in the movie the Other Guys, the fresh start didn’t go so well…

“I have to be able to express myself and say things,” Will Ferrell’s character said in the movie.

Apparently Marcus Morris felt the same way. And so it began:

"I'm blocking most of the Suns fans on my timeline"

And continued:

— Morris talked about how every tweeting him had the egg as a twitter picture and 30 followers.

And on and on:

— Another run of the mill tweet about the fans.

Until finally:

— Morris said it was funny to him and that he had a bunch of fun on Twitter today.

To me, the funniest part of all that fan-interaction is how Marcus Morris talked about the Suns fans as being bandwagon fans because that really doesn’t make any sense.

The Suns have not won a championship in their history, and they haven’t even made the playoffs since 2010. They last made the NBA Finals in 1993, OVER 21 YEARS AGO.

If you’re a bandwagon fan for that team, I have bad news for you: You’re doing it wrong…

But ultimately, it all comes down to this. If Marcus Morris is going to act like this, then it was obviously a good call for the Suns to part ways with him and get his presence away from the team. This tweet really sums it up well:

Trade rumors

Apparently, it wasn’t enough for Marcus Morris to just take shots at Suns fans. Next up, he channeled his inner-Adrian Wojnarowski, or perhaps a better comparison given the tone would be Stephen A. Smith, to ‘report’ that the Suns would be looking to move his brother, Markieff.

The Suns have been pretty clear to this point about keeping Markieff Morris in Phoenix. And in a somewhat related note, it appears (at least so far) that Markieff is staying off social media, which is probably a good sign as well. It’s nice to see one of the brothers show some maturity, and one could only hope that continues for the upcoming year.

Battle with Gambo

After one of Marcus’ earlier tweets, calling out Suns fans for being bandwagon fans, Arizona based-reporter and radio personality John Gambadoro responded, by letting him know with Marcus, there wasn’t much to bandwagon about in the first place.

Marcus Morris responded with a simple peace sign in a (somewhat shockingly) level-headed move and the exchange mercifully ended…

That’s how it went… Right?

Wrong.

Marcus’ next move was brilliantly executed with tact exhibited in films such as Argo and Zero Dark Thirty.

Okay, maybe it was

a little

a lot more blunt than that.

The response?

Author’s note: As a fellow Jayhawk, I just want to say not all of us struggle with the difference between to/too/two. But yeah, that was definitely the incorrect usage.

Anyway, what’s the only logical response when someone criticizes your grammar? Attack them personally (of course)!

Morris has since deleted the tweet, but he called out Gambo, saying something along the lines of “all the players knew Gambo couldn’t make it playing basketball” and that’s why he was bitter.

And then it got really fun. Go ahead and read the rest for yourself…

(This next tweet has been deleted so I have a screen grab of it for you all)

AND THEN THE GRAND FINALE (all-caps is 100% deserved):

Fatality.

Block button

Per Basketball-Reference.com, Marcus Morris recorded 16 blocks in the 2014-15 season. I’m guessing he beat that total on Friday alone.

Here’s Andy Joseph from the Arizona Republic:

And of course Gambo:

And he’s had his run-ins with writers all across the web, including at Bright Side of the Sun (SBNation):

Although it’s worth noting, considering his block-to-technical foul ratio last year was barely above one, he probably picked up quite a few Twitter technical fouls as well:

Anyway, since I’m probably going to be the next one to get blocked, you can do me a favor if you enjoyed this piece and follow me on Twitter (my handle is @SChasenKU). Or not, I guess. It’s a free country.
