Potential Fit

Unfortunately for Vaughn and all his scoring potential, Phoenix probably isn’t the right place for him to develop it.

Don’t get me wrong, Vaughn’s shoot-first mentality would fit in perfectly with this current Suns roster and there are worse things in the world than having an 18-year-old scoring machine in the making. But with so many young Suns players in need of development, particularly on the wing where Vaughn would be playing, it’s hard to see Phoenix being a good fit for him.

We’ve covered the Suns’ draft needs ad nauseam to this point, but it bears repeating: this team could really use a backup power forward for Markieff Morris who can help on the boards and spread the floor with a respectable perimeter shot.

Even if the Suns don’t go that route with someone like Bobby Portis or Frank Kaminsky, they’ll be drafting the best available player, which means someone like Cameron Payne, Myles Turner, Devin Booker or Stanley Johnson is somehow still available.

Rashad Vaughn could be in that conversation, but more than likely he belongs at the tail end of it.
