Overview

As the 2015 NBA Draft approaches, we’ll be taking a look at the top prospects in this year’s class to gain a sense of what the Phoenix Suns should do with their pick. Today, we’ll be taking a look at Montrezl Harrell.

In the category of stretch-4s that most Suns fans are craving from the 13th pick in the draft, Montrezl’s Harrell’s name has been frequently thrown in the discussion. A hard-nosed power forward from Louisville, Harrell made the interesting choice to come back to school after a promising sophomore season, hurting his draft stock in the process.

At 21 years old, Harrell isn’t particularly old and he didn’t have a bad junior season with the Cardinals, however. In fact, Harrell improved his numbers to 15.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 56.6 percent from the floor. Harrell also started to add a three-point shot to his repertoire, though he wasn’t particularly efficient with it.

At 6’8″, 253 pounds, Harrell has the strength but maybe not the size the play the power forward position in the NBA. He’s a fighter in the paint and has worked hard to add a perimeter shot to his game, but is he a good fit for the Phoenix Suns in a draft filled with stretch-4 prospects? Here’s a look at his draft profile.
