Weaknesses

As we already mentioned, Justise Winslow can finish around the basket and knock down three-point looks in catch-and-shoot situations, but he can’t really shoot from anywhere in between. In small-ball lineups, his pick-and-pop might not be particularly useful if he can’t step out and nail a midrange jumper.

  • Winslow is not very effective when it comes to creating his own shot either. At the NBA level, you have to be able to create your own offense to be considered a star, and though Winslow is not a poor ball handler, he really doesn’t have much of a jump shot off the dribble — again, going back to his issues in the midrange.

Winslow’s potential on the defensive end is quite obvious, but what isn’t so evident is how his offense will develop in the NBA. Coming into Duke, Winslow wasn’t pegged as much of a shooter but put in a lot of work to improve his stroke and eventually become an effective set shooter.

But in the pros, is he ready to take on more offensive responsibilities? Will he have to scrap and bully his way to points, or will he develop a pull-up jump shot too? And will his three-point shot translate to the NBA line? These are questions only Winslow will be able to answer in time, but for now, they’re his biggest question marks.
