Overview

As the 2015 NBA Draft approaches, we’ll be taking a look at the top prospects in this year’s class to gain a sense of what the Phoenix Suns should do with their pick. Today, we’ll be taking a look at R.J. Hunter.

Hutner probably wasn’t on a lot of people’s radars until March Madness this year, when he provided hoops fans with one of the greatest moments in NCAA Tournament history. But the coach’s son led the Georgia State Panthers all season long, averaging 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.

At 21 years old, the timing felt right for Hunter to enter the draft, and this 6’6″ shooting guard will have plenty of suitors as a mid-first round pick. Coming off back-to-back Sun Belt Player of the Year honors, Hunter’s silky shooting mechanics and his underrated playmaking ability will help him find an NBA home pretty early in the draft.

The question is, will that home be Phoenix at No. 13?

After a season of leadership and an NCAA Tournament gem that will only help his draft stock, here’s a look at R.J. Hunter’s draft profile and his potential fit with the Phoenix Suns as a lottery selection.
