Weaknesses
Wright’s shooting is just about the only thing that could stop him from being successful at the NBA level.
In his first season of major college basketball, Wright shot a gag-worthy 22 percent from beyond the arc. He struggled again for most of his senior season before heating up down the stretch, hitting 13-of-22 from deep over his final seven games heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Wright finished his senior season shooting a respectable 35 percent from beyond the arc, though that was on just two attempts a game with opponents often giving him the Rajon Rondo treatment, going way under screens and daring the All-American to beat them with his jumper.
Wright has a slow and low release, a combination that won’t get it done at the NBA level, despite his height.
Wright did shoot an excellent 88 percent from the free throw line in college, a trait that usually translates well to the pros.
There are concerns about his ability to finish at the rim in the NBA, due to his lack of strength and elite speed for a guard, though I feel that he has a high enough skill level to overcome it.
