Potential Fit

If Frank Kaminsky is off the board, Portis may very well be the next best pick the Suns could possibly make. A big lanky, heavy power forward who can shoot from the outside and hold his own against bigger players would bode extremely well with this Phoenix Suns team.

Due to his frame, Portis would be able to set bruising screens on opposing guards, freeing up Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight in the pick and roll game. Speaking of the pick and roll …THAT pick and roll in particular…it would be absolutely deadly.

Imagine Bledsoe coming down the court with a full head of steam, his defender is absolutely 100 percent locked in on stopping him, Bledsoe cuts right, his defender cuts right and PLOW!! Portis sets a crushing screen, and then either a spot-up three where he would surely get many open looks playing in this Suns’ offense or a roll to the basket where he and Alex Len could combine to give the Suns some serious second chance points.
