Overview

As the 2015 NBA Draft approaches, we’ll be taking a look at the top prospects in this year’s class to gain a sense of what the Phoenix Suns should do with their pick. Today, we’ll be taking a look at Myles Turner.

Turner declared for the draft after a single season at the University of Texas, where he posted 10.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, but those numbers don’t tell the full story. Per 40 minutes, Turner averaged 18.3 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.7 blocks, while shooting nearly 84 percent from the free throw line.

Turner has the size to play at the NBA level, and stands at right around 7’0″ tall, but the common belief is that he may be a better fit for teams as a power forward, especially given his potential to space the floor with his shooting. However, Turner’s mobility may be the thing that keeps him from being able to play the four effectively, and it could be something that haunts him over his entire NBA career.

Regardless, Turner is viewed mostly as a mid-to-late lottery selection, although some have him falling right outside of the lottery. Either way, most have him going somewhere in the 8-to-16 range. ESPN’s Chad Ford and Jeff Goodman have him going 11th and 15th respectfully. CBS Sports’ Zach Harper has him a little bit lower at 16th, whereas Gary Parrish, also of CBS Sports, has him all the way up at 10th to Miami.

Many feel that the Suns will be looking for a power forward in this draft, so if he were to fall to the Suns at No. 13, there is a pretty good chance that they’d strongly consider him. However, that doesn’t mean he’s perfect as a prospect by any measure, nor is he necessarily a perfect fit for the Phoenix Suns.

With that, let’s take a look at Myles Turner’s 2015 NBA Draft profile.
