Overview

As the 2015 NBA Draft approaches, we’ll be taking a look at the top prospects in this year’s class to gain a sense of what the Phoenix Suns should do with their pick. Today, we’ll be taking a look at Frank Kaminsky.

By all rights, Kaminsky is one of the most improved college basketball players of all time. Coming off his senior season in which he won the Naismith College Player of the Year Award, was a consensus First Team All-American and led the Wisconsin Badgers to the NCAA title game, Kaminsky WAS college basketball this year.

The question is, where does he fit in at the next level?

A 7’1″ center with three-point range, Frank the Tank’s versatility and high basketball IQ should not be doubted. Whether or not he has what it takes to succeed at the next level is another matter, since Kaminsky is already 22 years old and may not be athletic enough to defend NBA centers.

However, Kaminsky’s ability to spread the floor, along with his winning pedigree and positive, happy-go-lucky attitude has him pegged as a late lottery pick or mid-first round selection. In fact, quite a few mock drafts, including ESPN’s Chad Ford, have Phoenix taking the Badger big.

The Suns need help at the power forward position and some depth behind Alex Len would certainly be a welcome addition, so should they consider Frank the Tank with their No. 13 pick? To answer that question, here’s a look at his draft profile.
