6. Dan Majerle

What better spot for the greatest sixth man in Phoenix Suns history than No. 6? With the 14th pick in the 1988 NBA Draft, the Suns chose Dan Majerle from Central Michigan, prompting boos from the fans when his name was announced.

Cotton Fitzsimmons, who was the team’s head coach at the time, publicly chastised fans for doing so, famously prophesying: “This will be the last time you people will boo Dan Majerle.” He was 100 percent correct on that one.

Nicknamed “Thunder Dan” for his surprising bounce and thunderous dunks, Majerle became an all-time fan favorite who played tough defense off the bench and was an integral part of the 1992-93 Suns team that went to the NBA Finals. He was unable to slow down Michael Jordan in that series, but hey, who could slow down Michael Jordan in those days?

One of the greatest 3-and-D players in the franchise’s history, Majerle was also a two-time All-Star in his eight years with the Suns. He made the NBA All-Defensive Second Team twice and he led the league in made and attempted three-pointers in 1992-93 AND 1993-94.

Majerle averaged 13.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 36.4 percent from downtown in his time with the Suns. His jersey was retired by Phoenix and Thunder Dan is another proud member of the Suns Ring of Honor.
