Kelly Oubre Jr.: Phoenix Suns 2015 Draft Profile
By Scott Chasen
Overview:
As the 2015 NBA Draft approaches, we’ll be taking a look at the top prospects in this year’s class to gain a sense of what the Phoenix Suns should do with their pick. Today, we’ll be taking a look at Kelly Oubre Jr.
Oubre declared for the draft following one season at the University of Kansas where he averaged 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, although those numbers increased by nearly one point and rebound in conference play.
Oubre stands at about 6’7” (that is in shoes, but basketball is played in shoes, so that’s the measurement I went with), but it is his length that has teams so excited. Oubre has a wingspan of nearly 7’3”, and he uses it effectively on defense to terrorize opponents.
However, while the measurements certainly check out, there are some questions with Oubre, surrounding the idea that he still has a bit of a way to go in becoming a solid NBA player.
Oubre is definitely still raw in some areas, but as you’ll read, he does have the potential to help in a couple of ways. For that reason, among others, most draft boards have him going in the mid-to-late lottery (basically from pick No. 8 or 9-down), which means he could be there when the Suns pick at 13.
With that, let’s take a look at Kelly Oubre Jr.’s 2015 NBA Draft Profile….
