8. Zarko Cabarkapa

There’s a good chance 95 percent of you out there have never even heard of Zarko Cabarkapa, which is never a good thing when it comes to a first round draft pick.

Not every draftee can work out in this league, but when the Suns took Cabarkapa with the 17th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, they passed on a number of players who would have really helped them out, including David West, Boris Diaw, Carlos Delfino, Kendrick Perkins, Matt Bonner and Kyle Korver.

Instead, they took Cabarkapa, a 6’11” Montenegrin power forward who played a grand total of 52 games for the Suns over two seasons before they traded him to the Golden State Warriors for two future second round draft picks. He dealt with injuries his rookie season, limiting him to 49 games, before a back injury in 2006 led to the Warriors pulling the plug on his contract.

After leaving the NBA in 2006, he spent two years recuperating from his injuries and did not play in another professional basketball game overseas until 2009. He averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in his time in Phoenix.
