Matt Barnes

New Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Role with Clippers: Starting small forward, enforcer and “3-and-D” guy.

Years in Phoenix: 1 (2008-09)

Comments: Barnes is that guy you hate if he’s playing against your team, but love if he’s on your side. He likes to mix it up, get physical and seems to collect technicals and fines as if they will gain value over time and he can sell them later as antiques. He’s hit the tail end of his career and is the embodiment of the NBA journeyman as this stint is his second with the Clippers and his eighth team during his 12-year career.

Hedo Turkoglu

New Team: Los Angeles Clippers

Role with Clippers: Backup small forward, barely in rotation

Years in Phoenix: 1 (2010-11)

Comments: Hearing about Turkoglu is a painful reminder of the year right after the Steve Nash trade where the Suns were just so, so bad. Phoenix got Turkoglu a couple years after he was good with the Magic. He started some games for the Suns and was generally terrible. He’ll be out of the league any minute now, and thankfully Phoenix is “past” those times for now.
