5. Seth Curry May Get Actual NBA Minutes
Less than 24 hours after Knight went down with the ankle injury, the Suns signed D-Leaguer Seth Curry, younger brother of Stephen Curry, to a 10-day contract. Steph Curry lighting up Phoenix up for 25 second half points the night before probably didn’t hurt, but this was mostly a move to provide the Suns with a much-needed reserve point guard.
For the Erie Bayhawks this season, Curry averaged 23.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from three-point territory. His call-up took a bit longer than expected, but Knight’s injury provides Curry with his chance to play some actual NBA minutes.
In his first game with the Suns, Curry played a grand total of one minute, checking into the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with the victory already in hand. He missed his only shot of the night, a three-pointer.
Unfortunately for Suns fans, Seth is not the second coming of Steph Curry. He probably won’t play unless Phoenix is in a blowout game or there’s a ton of foul trouble. But for fans holding out to see Reggie Bullock, consider that in the Suns’ first game without Knight, Curry played one more minute than Bullock did.
