With Plumlee gone, the Suns were one Alex Len injury away from having only Brandon Wright at the center position. Markieff Morris has also logged some minutes at center this season, but with the Suns already lacking depth at the power forward position, it makes sense they decided to sign center Earl Barron to a 10-day contract.

Barron was the final cut in the preseason to shave Phoenix’s roster down to 15 players. He played well during the preseason and has been extremely impressive with the Suns’ D-League affiliate, averaging 20.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game for the Bakersfield Jam.

At 33 years old, this seven-footer isn’t going to turn the Suns into playoff contender. Most likely, he’ll see some pretty sparse minutes behind Len and Wright. But he has a decent perimeter shot and if worse comes to worst, he provides some depth to a position of need.

With the signing of Barron and Granger still on the team, Phoenix currently has 14 players on the roster.
