5. No Need To Overreact

There’s reason to be concerned about Green’s curious “DNP – CD” after playing in 129 of a possible 129 games for the Suns prior to a game against Chicago. There’s reason to wonder why he’s played a grand total of 16 minutes in Phoenix’s last two games. But just because G-Air-ld’s struggled to find minutes recently doesn’t mean that will be the case all season long.

Let’s not forget Green is still a lengthy, useful defender when he’s locked in. His three-point shooting is a quality the Suns need and on the nights when he shows up ready to play, Phoenix is one Gerald Green heat check away from taking any game over. He just hasn’t been locked in at that level for a few weeks now.

It’s tempting to overreact and wonder why Jeff Hornacek seems to be phasing him out. But before we settle on finding a better situation for Green elsewhere, let’s remember that it wasn’t that long ago when he was an instrumental part of a surprising Suns team that won 48 games.
