The Phoenix Suns continue to cling to their spot at eighth in the Western Conference. Though they’ve won 14 of their last 19 games, they haven’t made a dent in the standings and the Oklahoma City Thunder are still right behind them.

Not many people outside of Phoenix believe the Suns can hold off OKC and retain their playoff spot. This team is young, they don’t play much defense and a lot of people still aren’t sold on having three point guards on the same team.

The Suns have proven they can hang with any team on their good nights, but they’ve also shown us they’re capable of racking up some pretty ugly losses when they don’t show up focused.

Following a disheartening loss to James Harden and the Houston Rockets last night, it’s time to take a look at a few things that could really come back to haunt the Suns should they fall short of the playoffs once again in 2014-15.

We already know the Suns’ weaknesses. They give up too many second-chance points, they need help in the frontcourt, they’re not good defensively, etc, etc. But for the time being, we’re simply going to examine some of the more intangible things that the Suns will shake their heads at come April if they’re not playing still.
