Like his brother, Markieff Morris has turned on the Wonder Twin powers this season. He’s been in the talk for Sixth Man of the Year for his contribution off the bench. He also won Player of the Week in November, becoming the first Sun to do that since Amar’e Stoudemire in 2005.
What changed? He’s stopped taking three pointer and started using his big 6’10” build to get inside and score points. He has only attempted 45 three point shots this season, far less than he did at this point last year. It makes sense why. The Suns have guys that can hit three pointers, but lack sufficient interior toughness. Markieff is one of the few guys with the size needed to grab tough boards and that is exactly what he has been doing.
Markieff still has room for improvement, but he’s done a great job improving from year to year. Like his brother, the former Kansas products has solidified their chances at a successful NBA career.
