#5: Detroit Pistons: Killian Hayes | Point Guard | International
Kind of like how British accents make the same sentence said in an American accent sound much more intelligent, left-handed basketball players just look smoother than righties, even though they may be doing the exact same thing.
And Killian Hayes looks smooth. The 6’5″ combo guard played in Germany with Ratiopharm Ulm this past season and has been climbing up mock draft boards everywhere.
He is only shot 29.4 percent from behind the arc, but his midrange pull-up game is strong. On defense, he is active (coming up with over one steal per game), but doesn’t possess elite athleticism.
Hayes doesn’t necessarily do any one thing great, but with a 6’8″ wingspan, he possesses all the physical tools to become great in everything. In the NBA, that kind of upside is going to be hard to pass up.
For a team like the Detroit Pistons building for the future, someone like Hayes would be well worth the gamble that he blossoms into the point guard of the future.
