There is no need to really go into the comparisons with this, but there is no doubt that in the new NBA, $12.5M a year on average is a steal compared to other players that have been thrown un-godly amounts of money for far   less talent and statistical output.

Beginning two years ago with the Lakers signing Timofey Mozgov to a $64M, four-year contract after averaging 6.9 points and 5.0 rebounds for Cleveland, to Mason Plumlee signing a three-year, $41M deal with the Denver Nuggets this summer with a career average of 9.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and .9 blocks, Warren is a steal.

Going back to the idea of if the Suns had waited and attempted to re-sign Warren after this coming season, there is a decent to above average chance that he has such a good year that he is able to demand well above the $12.5M average that he just got. And especially as the salary cap continues to rise, there is no doubt that his contract will be considered very manageable, especially if he is able to average about 20 points and 9 rebounds as I have personally projected – hopefully with a much improved 3-point shooting percentage.
