Lead the team by example

Phoenix Suns Team
PHOENIX, AZ – MARCH 05: Tyler Ulis #8 of the Phoenix Suns is congratulated by teammates Tyson Chandler #4, Devin Booker #1, Alan Williams #15, Marquese Chriss #0, Leandro Barbosa #19 and Jared Dudley #3 after hitting the game winning three point shot against the Boston Celtics in the NBA game at Talking Stick Resort Arena on March 5, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.

If Jared Dudley’s goal is to keep the young core intact, then Tyson Chandler’s goal is to lead by example.

Chandler was initially signed on the summer of 2015 in hopes to lure LaMarcus Aldridge to the Suns. Chandler surprisingly has been playing better than expected. In his two seasons in the desert, he’s been averaging 7.7 ppg, and 9.9 rpg, numbers that are better than his first five seasons in the NBA.

Just this past season he put up 11.5 rebounds per game, tied for third most rebounds per game in his career. Impressive considering he is well past his prime at 34 years of age.

He won’t lead the team in scoring but his role is to simply show how to be a professional on the court and how to do one’s job properly.
