Isaiah Thomas undergoes left wrist surgery

The Phoenix Suns announced that newly signed point guard Isaiah Thomas underwent a successful arthroscopy of his left wrist on Thursday. He is not expected to miss any time and should be able to fully participate in all of training camp.

Thomas was signed to a four year $28 million contract by the Suns in the offseason and is expected to come off the bench to provide the Suns with depth at the guard position. In three years with the Sacramento Kings, Thomas averaged 15. 3 points per game on 43% shooting. Last season, Thomas averaged a career-high 20.3 points per game.

Thomas averaged 20 points and six assists per game in 2013-14 for the Sacramento Kings. He was dealt from the Kings to the Suns this offseason in a sign-and-trade that gave Sacramento a trade exception and the rights to the Suns’ 2013 second-round draft pick, Alex Oriakhi.

With Eric Bledsoe’s free agency still ongoing, Thomas’ health will be that much more important for Phoenix.
