2014 NBA mock draft: The Suns' Draft Day Eve predictions

Get the final measurements of your wingspans, because it’s Draft Day Eve.

The Phoenix Suns will be busy working the phones leading into the 2014 NBA Draft, which tips off at 4:30 p.m. PST on Thursday at The Barclays Center. So many options for Phoenix means there’s very little evidence that even accurate information will lead to accurate predictions. Nonetheless, we’ve compiled some of the last NBA mock drafts from the best sources across the web.

Out of 10 different writers’ mocks, the assumption Phoenix will go with a swingman with the 14th and 18th picks has only complicated the guessing process. James Young, Rodney Hood and T.J. Warren are all in the mix. With the news Channing Frye will opt out of his contract, however, the thought is that Phoenix will lean more toward drafting a power forward. Four writers have Adreian Payne going off the board at 14 or 18. And two, more surprisingly, have Doug McDermott joining the Suns.

Conscious of the Suns’ likelihood to draft and stash a player, writers like the thought of Dario Saric, Jusuf Nurkic and Clint Capela ending up in Phoenix. Capela is overall the most likely player to be selected by the Suns, if we’re judging this by percentages. Six writers believe he’ll be a Sun.

Here’s the roundup of projected Suns picks from Draft Express, Paul Coro, ESPN, NBA Draft Insider, Sports Illustrated,, CBS Sports and Yahoo! Sports. Additionally, check out’s consensus mock, which in the lottery has Phoenix using its 14th pick on Kentucky guard James Young.
