Mike Elliott wins 2014 NBA Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year

President of Basketball ops Lon Babby calls the Phoenix Suns training staff “world class,” but the players simply dubs it TSM, short for Training Staff Mafia. One member, head strength and conditioning coach and athletic trainer Mike Elliott, was named the 2014 NBA Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Strength and Conditioning Association.

“Mike is an integral piece of our sports medicine team,” said Suns VP of athlete care and head trainer Aaron Nelson in a release. “His hard work, dedication and knowledge to help keep our players on the floor make him very deserving of this honor. I’m very proud of him.”

Added Babby: “We are delighted to congratulate Mike Elliott on this very prestigious award. Mike is an integral part of our world class training staff. His approach to the care and well-being of our players is innovative and highly effective. This is a well-deserved honor.”
