The Phoenix Suns have proven that even when faced with a tough stretch of games they can come together and pull off the victory. The Suns have beaten the Blazers and Thunder in what were the toughest games of this final playoff stretch. Wednesday night the Suns will face a Pelicans team that is without most of its starters and with an injured Anthony Davis. The Suns SHOULD win Wednesday night but that’s why they play the game.

The 46-31 Suns travel to New Orleans to face the 32-45 Pelicans Wednesday night. If the Suns can beat the Pelicans they can possibly have a two-game lead in the playoff race on the Memphis Grizzlies. The Suns are still battling to get into and stay in the playoffs in that last final spot out in the west.

Key Matchup:

Goran Dragić versus Tyreke Evans. Dragić is averaging 20.9 points and 5.1 assists per game in the last 10 games. In that stretch the Suns are 8-2 and just in time as the playoffs are looming. Evans will have to carry most of the load for the Suns in this game as the Pelicans are without Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday and Jason Smith. Also, Anthony Davis has been suffering from back spasms. Evans is averaging 17.3 points and 6.7 assists per game in his last 10 games. He will need to have an above average game to help his team.

Key stat:

3-pointers. The Suns shot the lights out against the Thunder in a huge win. The Suns shot 47.8 percent from beyond the arc. This will need to be the strategy Wednesday night against the Pelicans in order to keep them from stifling the Suns.

What the Suns offense needs to look for:

Fast breaks. The Suns thrive on easy basket opportunities continue to lead the league in fast breaks. The Pelicans have a depleted lineup so look for the Suns to run all over the Pelicans Wednesday night.

What the Suns defense needs to look out for:

Evans. Tyreke will have to have a big game against the Suns for his team to have a chance against the Suns. Evans will be one of the few regular starters in the lineup as most of his teammates are either hurt or sitting out due to injury.

Pelicans sleeper to have a good game:

Evans. Unfortunately for the pelicans Evans will be the first and last option on offense and will have to have a huge game to keep them in it. The Suns will only really need to make sure he doesn’t get hot early in the game.

Prediction: The Suns win 110-96 in a route against the Pelicans
