Another day, another challenging match-up for the Suns. On Thursday night, the Suns hosted MVP front-runner Kevin Durant and the conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. The Suns added another upset to their impressive repertoire this season, winning 128-122.

The Suns looked beaten early, trailing 18-8 early in the first quarter. They slowly started to climb back up, but OKC went on another run that left the Suns trailing by 16. The Suns, as always, didn’t quit, and went on a 23-2 run to take a 103-98 lead. Late, with the Thunder on their heels, the Suns executed everything by the book, taking smart shots to maintain a two-possession lead.

It was the Gerald Green show tonight. Green dropped a career-high 41 points on 12-22 shooting, including 8-13 from behind the arc. He scored 25 in the third quarter alone, and drained everything from threes to dunks. Markieff Morris added another nice night to his sixth man resume, adding 24 points off the bench. Goran Dragic also helped, adding 22 points, including two crucial shots late in the game to help the Suns hang on. Ish Smith also added eight rebounds.

On the other end, stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 70 points, though Westbrook did take some questionable shots late in the game.

The Suns improve to 36-25 with this win, and they hold the 7th seed in the West. They have a couple of days to savor this win before they head to Oakland for another match against the Warriors
