The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Suns Tuesday night 110-101 after they were unable to keep their mistakes from killing them in the long run. The Timberwolves forced the Suns into making 19 turnovers and were unable to close the gap in the fourth quarter.

The 33-23 Suns travel to Utah to face the 20-23 Jazz after dropping their last two games. The Suns will be able to redeem themselves a bit when they play the Jazz on Wednesday night. The Jazz are one of the worst teams in the Western conference if not one of the worst teams in the league period. They have a talented rookie in Trey Burke but not much else going for them.

Key Matchup:

Goran Dragić versus Trey Burke. The Suns were unable to hold off the Wolves Tuesday night when Dragić fouled out with about three minutes left in the game. The Suns leading scorer and on court leader proved to be invaluable after the Suns were unable to keep up with the Wolves in the closing minutes of the game. Wednesday night should prove much easier for the Suns as they look to bounce back and end their current two-game slide.

Key stat:

Turnovers. The Suns will need to limit the mistakes that lead to easy baskets. They made 19 turnovers in the loss to the Wolves. The odd statistic of the night was the Suns dominance on the boards against the Wolves, the Suns had 50 rebounds to the Wolves 38. 18 of those 50 rebounds were offensive rebounds and yet the Suns inability to protect the ball led to their loss.

What the Suns offense needs to look for:

Get the ball to the dragon. The Suns should let Dragić control the pace of the game and allow him to drive as much as possible to put the Jazz on their heels on the defensive end. Dragić is going to come back with purpose after leaving Tuesday night’s game after fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

What the Suns defense needs to look out for:

Lockdown Burke. Trey Burke is in the top three for rookie of the year consideration. He is averaging 11.8 points per game and 5.2 assists per game in his last 10 games for the Jazz. Burke has proven to be a player to watch even on the lowly Jazz.

Utah Jazz sleeper to have a good game:

Alec Burks. Burks had a big game Monday night against the Celtics scoring 21 points and four assists in 30 minutes of play. Burks can be a dangerous offensive player and Suns will have to keep an eye on him Wednesday night.

Prediction: The Suns beat the Jazz 111-98.
