The Phoenix Suns had a clutch 3rd quarter to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 99-90, to win their 25th game of the season, which matches their win total for all of last season.
The Suns played horribly in the first half. Not really anything was going, shots weren’t falling, and in the blink of an eye Cleveland held a 20-point lead. It seemed like they were trying to force passes into the teeth of the Cavs defense. Not really what you’re looking for going into the half, as Cleveland had an 18-point lead going into the locker room.
However, this was the tale of two halves.
In the third quarter, the Suns tightened the vice holding the Cavs to a measly SIX points in the entire quarter. Again, SIX points on only TWO field goals in 12 whole minutes of play. Those were both Phoenix records. The Suns really fought back as they scored 25 points in the third, outscoring the Cavs 56-29 in the second half.
During a short span of only two and a half minutes in the third quarter, the Suns scored 14 points with a barrage of three-pointers from Frye, Green and Dragic. Green added another a couple minutes later, and the Suns were back in the game.
Markieff Morris led the Suns with a fantastic game, tallying 27 points on an efficient 8-16 from the field with 15 rebounds and a couple assists and a block. Channing Frye finished with 16 points, The Dragon had 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds as he led his team to victory.
Tucker had a solid game with 13 points, ten rebounds, six assists and two steals, while Green had 12 points, and adding five assists. While Plumlee only had three points, ne did his job, pulling down ten rebounds.
Kyrie Irving finished with 24 points, Luol Deng had 18, and Tristan Thompson finished with 17 to lead the Cavs.
This was a good win to get the road-trip started right.
The Suns have a quick turnaround as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers
