Phoenix Suns face Washington off big game

Suns versus Wizards

The Phoenix Suns face Washington, coming off probably the biggest Suns game since the 2010 playoff run.

The Phoenix Suns (without their second-best player Eric Bledsoe) put a beatdown on the NBA’s best team the Indiana Pacers 124-100. That total for the Suns’ squad was the most the NBA’s best defensive team had given up all season, and tied for the most they’d lost by.

Now the Suns have to face the Washington Wizards. While they’ve won four out of their last six games they’re still a game under .500 at 20-21.

The hardest thing the Suns are going to have to do is to put away the emotions of beating the NBA’s best team on national TV and get back to business. They are capable of putting this game away early and should really try to take advantage.

It’s also Marcin Gortat’s first game back in Phoenix after being traded to Washington this offseason. We’ll see how he does against Plumlee.

Key Matchup:

Goran Dragic versus John Wall. Last game out Wall racked up a triple-double, but the Wizards still lost in overtime to the Boston Celtics. Whichever point guard tallies the most points and assists will lead their team to victory.

What the Suns offense should focus on:

The offense just has to play fundamentally sound. No crazy passes, get out in transition, don’t make too many mistakes. The Wizards aren’t that good and the Suns are at home. They just need to play well enough to win.

What the Suns defense needs to watch out for:

Don’t let Wall penetrate into the lane. Don’t let Gortat or Nenè get easy baskets near the rim. Don’t gamble on defense, just play solid.

Prediction:

Suns win 111-96
