Suns Take on the Raptors: Keys to the Game with Predictions

Following the great win over Houston, Phoenix wants to gain some ground in the Western Conference standings in the next few games, starting with Friday’s game as the Suns take on the Raptors.

The 6-11 Raptors are not as bad as some teams in the East, but aren’t currently in the playoff picture. Phoenix isn’t in the West postseason picture either, but due to the awful disparity between the conferences this year, at 10-9 the Suns would be the THIRD-SEED if they were an Eastern Conference team.

Key Matchup:

Goran Dragic versus DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan is averaging nearly 22 points per game, which is more than five points per game than his career average. Dragic needs to neutralize DeRozan, while getting to the rim when the Suns get the ball.

Key stat:

Rebounding. The Raptors are good at it, while Phoenix is weak in that area. Phoenix needs to limit the Raptors to one shot per possession, while boxing out to make sure Toronto doesn’t get any second chance points.

What the Suns offense needs to look for:

Pile on the points. The Raptor’s last game they had a 27-point lead on the Golden State Warriors, but ended up losing. If Phoenix can step on them early, the game will be over before it starts.

What the Suns defense needs to look out for:

Get out in transition. Get some easy points, because Toronto’s defense is top-10 in the league in points allowed.

Toronto Raptor’s sleeper to have a good game:

I could see Terrence Ross, who is a bit inconsistent, having a decent game against the Suns’ second unit.

Prediction: Suns win 103-91 with a balanced attack of five players scoring in double-figures.
